The Methamphetamine workgroup, part of the Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition, is holding the next planning meeting on July 15, 2005. Thanks to the Task Force meeting held on May 25, 2005 many new faces heard about this emerging problem and the Palm Beach Post newspaper is working and focusing on this project. For the work group this means the moral responsibility of the newspaper to reach our county residents is being accomplished. Part of our focus at the meeting will be how to disseminate information to prevent this epidemic from growing further in our county. Our efforts will include assessing the extent of the meth problem as reported by local treatment facilities, and arrest records. These are important first steps and your presence is requested. At this stage every idea is a good idea and your expertise and concern can shape the future.

MEETING NOTICE: Judges Science Based Program

Allow some extra time for security.
Members are invited to make a short three minute presentation about their organization and services to a panel of Juvenile Judges. Because of limited time there will be a limited number of presentations. PBCSAC will organize the agenda with priority given to licensed providers with science based programs that appear on the SAMSHA website www.modelprograms.samhsa.gov with a model, effective or promising rating. This meeting will be an effective step forward in erasing risk factors in our community.
Please contact Doris Carroll at PBCSAC to participate as a presenter.
All PBCSAC members are invited to include printed information of their organization and programs to be included in packages for the PBC Juvenile Judges. This information must be received at the PBCSAC offices by July 12, 2005 to be part of the package. Contact PBCSAC with questions.
